Tondo Senese Frame (1540-1550)

The Tondo is a flat internal cyma followed by a festoon with “eight” shaped ribbon and flower with fruit motifs (pomegranates, pears, apples and grapes). It is hand carved and prepared with yellow and red bole, covered with fine 22k gold leaf and finished with a blue watercolor base(102 cm. Sec. 23 cm.). The original frame encloses the painting known as Madonna col Bambino, San Giovanni e San Paolo by Marco Pino.
